On October 21st, members of Think Blue attended a screening of "Street Fights" at TriBeCa Cinemas. The documentary by Marshall Curry, centers on Cory Booker's 2002 campaign for Mayor of Newark, New Jersey against the long-time incumbent, Sharpe James. The film follows Booker and members of his team through the duration of their challenging campaign, where the corrupt James narrowly triumphed over Booker. Despite his initial loss, Booker won the battle in 2006, and is currently serving his first term as the Mayor of Newark.
Following the screening, Booker joined Think Blue for a reception. He fielded questions regarding his arduous road to office, the progress he's seen during his reign over the city of Newark, and the 2008 Presidential Election. He motivated listeners by declaring that all the changes young Democrats desire for our country are within reach, as long as we have the drive to make them realities: "It's not a matter of 'can we', but a matter of 'will we.'" He went on to emphasize that it is imperative that young Democrats remain passionate and dedicated to their convictions, and to continue their involvement beyond the current Presidential Election.

Cory Booker is the mayor of Newark, New Jersey, former Newark Councilman and community advocate. He is the son of civil rights activists and has dedicated his life to improving the living conditions and rights of US citizens. From his time as a law student running a free legal clinic for low-income residents to his current vision to empower and reform the city of Newark, Cory continues to prove his allegiance to restore hope in America.

Booker attended Stanford University, where he earned a B.A. in political science in 1991 and an M.A. in sociology the following year. He won a Rhodes Scholarship and studied at The Queen's College, Oxford, where he was awarded an honors degree in modern history in 1994. After Oxford, he obtained a J.D. from Yale Law School in 1997.
